World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to boost an item's gear rating up 700 points, and then add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the Kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading due to their unique stats. (For example the perfect roll breakpoint armor is used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade, and aren't worth the effort.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. A lot of weapons also come with a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a group. In some instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon is able to upgrade by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and level. For example, an +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will increase until it requires more Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgrades to weapons will also reroll the stats of their base. This is generally a positive factor, but it could also have negative effects. Upgrades can render items impossible to use, unless you are exceptionally lucky.
Armor items can also be upgraded to increase their performance. In the case of chests or helms this will increase its base defense while gloves and belts enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it can sometimes roll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain upon upgrading along with the relative values of those stats. This means that a change from a sword with 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in the weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon can be possible by pressing the green button within the item menu, using the arrows that are circling. This will roll an item and change its statistics, but not reset the weapon's levels or connect it to an account's status.
Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor can make a an enormous difference in your ability to endure. Certain sets offer massive increases in resistance to curses, poisons, fire, and magic. This makes it easier to get through difficult areas. In general, the more defense you have on your character, the greater health you'll gain from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a special side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main side quest and have completed the fountain that corresponds, you can then speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees required for each level will differ. It is possible to use anything from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. For example the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep pace with a large group of enemies in the majority of cold conditions and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, giving you enough protection to survive an entire raid with a few friends.
It isn't possible to upgrade armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or spell power. You should also save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you will still be wearing at the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you use in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
You can also get some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have a few upgrades to your chest armor and helmets to allow you to stealth around certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, give an immediate effect. There are five kinds of potions, each with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.
Upgrades to potion require a certain amount XP. This can be earned by making them on a table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the upgrade price will vary based on the type of potion you want to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then, select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI which allows you to select the potions that you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they will offer when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP level.
Once a potion has been upgraded, it won't degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it is stored in. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.
Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the mechanics of potions. Splash potions for instance, now have a duration that is 0:08 instead of 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the item hover display. The potion table can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions are not able to be mixed in cauldrons. Additionally, using a potentio on a full cauldron, it drains the contents and replenishes the bottle.
In addition, there are lingering potions, which are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can also be added to lingering potions to extend their effects. The table of potions has been rearranged to appear more like the Java Edition. New potions are also added, for instance, the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket could be a small, inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also be an object or ornament that has a purpose but isn't important such as a thimble. In certain cultures, a trinket is a way to express friendship or affection between family members.
Trinkets can be upgraded by players as well as weapons or armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items trinkets, trinkets can be exchanged at will without losing their status.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of trinkets that are rare.
The upgrade of a trinket can be a cost-effective alternative to purchasing new ones. It is possible to upgrade the player for less than 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same level of base as the old trinket, however, it will also come with an additional 1% bonus upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded once they're no longer needed which allows a player to boost their power and value over time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.
In general, players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, then their secondary items and finally, other gear items that will not be replaced in the near future (for instance rings or cloaks). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when selecting the items to upgrade. For instance If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks, they should be focusing on upgrading their helm, chest, shoulders, and belt.
When they are no longer useful, trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket comes with an additional 1% bonus. However, item upgrading -upgrade can destroy the old trinket, unless it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than purchasing a new one.
